The Shared Responsibility Model in Practise
Salesforce prioritises creating a secure platform for its customers and their data. However, with the extended access the cloud provides, employees may unintentionally become security risks for their company. For example, the risks facing an organisation include but are not limited to:
- Device threats such as an employee uploading a corrupt file to your Salesforce cloud that, if downloaded or clicked on by other employees, would result in infected systems
- Ransomware used by cybercriminals to infect documents and files on your Salesforce cloud and/or provide them with access to your network
- Insider threats such as a disgruntled employee’s use of stored content on the cloud for their own personal benefit (exfiltration and selling of the data, for example)      Â
Â
In answer to such threats, the shared responsibility model is a cloud security framework entailing the security obligations of a cloud computing provider and its users to ensure accountability and full coverage. While the cloud provider is responsible for securing the platform, the customer is responsible for ensuring the integrity and security of the content residing on the platform. Companies are expected to play a part in securing their Salesforce data. Â
Â
When it comes to the risks and threats specific to your Salesforce cloud, what should be considered vs ignored when defining your security strategy and approach?
Â
Our roundtable discussion will consider this and other Salesforce-related questions. Expect peer discussions regarding the common challenges and approaches specific to data security in the (Salesforce) cloud.
