Overview
Cryptographic agility, simply put, is the ability to easily move from one algorithm to another. But at a more macro level, to be cryptographically agile an organisation must look at its risk assessments, security controls, software supply chain, and more. Having crypto agility has been a best practice for some time, but as we look to the future - specifically at addressing Zero Trust security requirements and migrating to post-quantum cryptography - it becomes an absolute necessity.

Why now? Part of achieving cryptographic agility is that Zero Trust will need to integrate and complement PQC, and the effort will take years. With organisations currently at risk of "harvest now, decrypt later" attacks, where bad actors are collecting sensitive data today, to decrypt once a quantum computer is capable - all digital information are already left vulnerable.
